Scherer uses a unique technique in which she directs the growth process of plants to form a fabric. With this, she undermines the traditional, human-dominated making process and proposes a form of co-creation with nature.

In the root structures, motifs appear such as chintz patterns and the spinal column, which refer to Gaudí's architecture and to Barcelona's colonial textile past. In this way, the work interweaves biological, historical and aesthetic layers. Amidst the space of the Grote Kerk, Yield 2024 gains an extra dimension: as a contemporary crop that is rooted in an age-old ritual of building, growing and giving meaning.

The presentation is part of the broader program surrounding the development of the City Garden of the Grote Kerk Veere.
