White Cube Zeeuws-Vlaanderen Renzo Martens/CATPC

In the opening exhibition of ArtBase Terneuzen, on display in the lobby of the city hall; works by the Congolese art collective Cercle d'Art travailleurs de Plantation Congolais (CATPC). In 2024, these were also shown in the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. CATPC has been collaborating for ten years with Terneuzen-born artist Renzo Martens. Together they built a museum, the White Cube, on a former Unilever plantation in Congo. Three members of CATPC: Mbuku Kimpala, Matthieu Kasiama and Ced'art Tamasala are present to discuss their work and the museum on the plantation. Martens speaks about his ideas to also establish an art center with local communities in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen: White Cube Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
