Post 65 on view
September 13 through January 11, 2026

In honor of the coveted national monument status of the brutalist Terneuzen town hall in the Post 65 category (heritage from the period 1965–1990), ArtBase Terneuzen presents a special exhibition. It features a typical Post 65 artwork by Zeeland artist Piet Dieleman (born 1956) and a work by the young Flemish artist Josse Pyl (born 1991).

Dieleman's work, on loan from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), exemplifies Post 65 in Zeeland through its color and use of materials. Josse Pyl's work demonstrates how the influence of Post 65 continues to resonate with younger generations.

In collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) and HZ University of Applied Sciences, ArtBase Terneuzen is also organizing an extensive Post 65 program. During four themed weekends in November 2025, January, March, and May 2026, a variety of artist talks, lectures, and performances will alternate.

"ArtBase aims to demonstrate how artistic ideas continue to have an impact, while remaining heritage demands attention, restoration, and repurposing. All in all, these are reasons enough to examine what Post 65 has brought us. This is the theme of ArtBase's activity program this fall, including the accompanying heritage route and the Dieleman and Pyl exhibition, which focuses on nuanced balances. It's all about looking, which the architecture of the town hall also invites." – Sandra Smets, quote from the Post 65 brochure.
