Post 65 – themed weekend May 16 & 17 – Transition

In the third and final themed weekend—about the influence and aftereffects of the Post 65 period on the present—ArtBase Terneuzen highlights the role music can play in the experience and process of transition.

PROGRAMME
Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026, 15:00–16:30 | Transition and music

Curator Eva Langerak will be in conversation with composer and researcher Christian Blaha and cultural sociologist Niels van Poecke. The discussion will explore how jazz and new music, through innovative experimentation and improvisation, can reflect and help initiate societal transition. Langerak will also speak with Hanna Zuiderbaan-Schoen about the unique jazz venue Porgy & Bess. Film excerpts about Porgy & Bess and the Zeeland Suite will also be shown.

Musical intermezzo by singer-songwriter Tim Roos with the band J.T. Bolwerk.

Marie Jeanne de Rooij will conclude with a column summarizing what has been covered during the various Post 65 weekends and how this can be used to support free thinking about the future.

Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for drinks and informal discussion.

PROGRAMME

Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2026, 15:00–16:00 | Transition, music and poetry

Jos Rouw (writer) interviews author Tijs van Bragt about his new poetry collection Anatomy of the Grasses, from which he will read a selection of poems, many set against the backdrop of the Zeeland landscape. This book presentation will be framed by a performance by Broeder Dieleman, who draws on stories from the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen landscape as his starting point.

Afterwards, there will be drinks and an opportunity to talk. The poetry collection will also be available for purchase.
