Quinten Buijsse (Hulst, 1983) is a photographer who focuses on landscape and architecture in the broadest sense of the word. He is interested in the landscape and the position of humans within it.
Over the past year, Buijsse has repeatedly taken the brutalist town hall in Terneuzen as his subject. He explored with his camera and approached the building in circles from outside to inside, zooming in further and further on the details, using various photographic techniques.
The series of photographs on display in the town hall from 25 January 2026 was created with a so-called soft focus lens – a classic portrait lens. Due to the effect of this lens, the image is not fully revealed, thus giving the viewer space for their own imagination. The series is part of a larger story about the region around Terneuzen and is a commission by ArtBase Terneuzen.
Quinten Buijsse was born and raised in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and trained at the Sint Joost Academy in Breda. He lives in Hulst and works internationally.
