Moderator Marie Jeanne de Rooij talks with artists and scientists about resilient and vulnerable nature, the (cultural) landscape as inspiration, about a new and sustainable balance between human-art-nature and the concept of symbiocene.
COEXISTENCE: Landscape, culture and technology
Artist Rachel Bacon discusses her research into forgotten and/or abandoned mining landscapes and the effect of climate change. Visual anthropologist David Bert Joris Dhert talks about the approach and impact of his participatory canal village project, RIEME, a soundtrack of words, music and noise. With Jos de Mul, emeritus professor of philosophical anthropology at Erasmus University, we discuss his recent publication, Welcome to the symbiocene. On the entanglement of nature, culture and technology.
The conversations also focus on the special cultural relationship and connections between the Netherlands (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen) and Flanders with the Ghent-Terneuzen canal as a symbolic trait d'union.
